Black Friday Alternative #6: Painted Marshmallow
This is a mother/daughter team, so you know things are going to be kick butt. They love making “love making pretty things. Home decor, wall art, jewelry, baby apparel, and more.” I love their use of pop-culture quotes, color choices, and rustic lumber.
The daughter of this team is another example of how supporting local artists is supporting the local artist scene. I have seen in person and on Facebook where she encourages other young artists to keep creating. I know her encouragement has been particular helpful to me in my current season of life.
Please check out their Facebook page to check out their wares. If you find something that interests you, you can contact them through their page. Also, they have been announcing flash sales on their Facebook page, so you might get a great deal on a great gift.
Black Friday Alternative #4: Bella Rhys Designs Unique Lampwork Jewelry
The artist I want to talk about today is Amanda Hutchinson. She creates amazing jewelry with unique lampwork beads and elegant metal components. She describes her jewelry “whimsical”,
by combining “textures, patterns, glass beads, chains and colors.” I would agree.
Not only is she an amazing, unique jewelry, she is also a great person. I had the opportunity to have an impromptu art show with her and Christy Freeman (who I blogged about earlier this week). While we were selling our wares, she told me about possible art and craft shows I could participate in. Plus, she was able to look at some my art and gave me some notes on what can separate me from other artists in the area. Artists helping other artists is a beautiful thing.
This is one of the many reasons why investing in local artist is so important. Not only are you investing in that artist, you are investing in inspiration.
Check out her Etsy Shop and her Facebook page. She is adding new pieces almost every day.
Black Friday Alternative #3: The Woodland Brush
The third artist I would like to talk about in this series is Emily Barnett, artist of the Woodland Brush. Her range of subjects include woodland creatures, music quotes, book quotes, holiday wishes, and commission portraits. She has a steady supply of prints available on Etsy and can be ask to do a commission piece of your little heart’s desire. Her media includes acrylic, watercolor, gouache or coffee stain.
Please, do yourself a favor and go check out her Etsy store:
